First things first: I AM GETTING AN iPAD. On the 6th of May our Mission will start using iPads to do the work of the Lord and I am super excited for it. It will be a great opportunity to be closer to every single one of you and to share the restored Gospel with my brothers and sisters who want to receive it.
Over the past week I have learned a lot about prayer, scripture study, the Holy Ghost and personal revelation. By myself I am weak. I would not have the strength to change and progress every day, striving to become more like our perfect example Jesus Christ. It is the Holy Ghost who provides the way and the strength for me to change.
We learn from the scriptures that he, the Holy Ghost, has the power to bring to pass a mighty change in our hearts. Through prayers of faith we receive the power of the Holy Ghost and through diligent, daily and meaningful scripture study we receive the blessing of continuous personal revelation; and personal revelation carries the power of the Spirit into my own heart and unto the hearts of those I share my believes with.
Practical Example: As missionaries, we kneel in prayer many times a day, asking for heavenly guidance and support through the Holy Ghost. We also strive to receive personal revelation through studying the scriptures several hours a day.
Maria, a member of our ward, has a very close friend called Anna. They do net get to visit each other often because Anna is working a lot and Maria has two little kids. But every once in a while Anna stops by Maria. For the last four years it so happens that every single time Anna visits Maria, either the Sisters or the Elders stop by to share a message. Or in our case of last week, to drop off roller skates they had forgotten at the chapel.
Sharing our message, I felt like addressing Anna directly, telling her that here loving Heavenly Father is reaching out to her. She was surprised to hear the exact same words coming from my mouth that she had heard from her friend many times before.
After a good spiritual message and delicious ecuadorian bakery we all left. Only five minutes later, Anna is standing in front of her door and the two other missionaries from our ward walk up to her, inviting her to listen to their message.
Through personal revelation the missionaries had received, Anna had the experiences she needed to feel the spirit and recognize a divine power in her life.
