The Book of Mormon teaches us in 2 Nephi 2:25: Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy. Before Adam fell there was no such thing as death in the perfect creation of God. The scriptures also teach us that death was brought into this world by the transgression of one man and that it will be overcome by one man only. Jesus Christ being the son of a mortal mother and an immortal father was the only one who was able to overcome death and thanks to his atonement we all will receive an immortal and glorified body. But why did he also have to suffer for our sins, sorrows and afflictions in the Garden of Gethsemane? I believe that his atonement protects us more than we can imagine. We wold not even be strong enough to atone for all the consequences of our own mistakes and sins we commit in the course of one human live. Our lives our hard enough the way they already are and there are many people drowning in all the obligations, expectations, difficulties and problems of this world. Without the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ none of us would be able to carry our burdens and to move on.
Jesus invites us to take upon us his yoke. To walk with him side by side. He wants to be there for us all the time and he has the power the help and support us always. All we have to do is accept his offer and follow his example. How could anybody reject that over? The only reason I can think of is if it was not real but it promise that it is! Just find the answer for yourself.
