Thank you for your emails (I'll send my answers by snail mail), your support and your prayers. I am having a great time on my mission. Yes, it is hard but the best things we will ever get in this life are the ones we have to work and fight for. Even before I started my mission I was convinced that the best purpose and motivation and the greatest satisfaction and long lasting happiness come from serving others. With every day that goes by here in Spain I can see with how much I've been blessed in my life. My Heavenly Father has given me everything I need and so much more. I have the privilege to know that I am a Son of God and that he has plan for me. I have a family who loves me unconditionally and that will always be there to support me with any challenge I face in my life. I have the opportunity to receive a great education. I am healthy and he has blessed with every temporal thing I could possibly ask for. And now that I am on my mission I even have the privilege that besides buying groceries and cleaning everything is taken care of so all I have left to do is share these blessings with my spiritual brothers and sisters.
I remember what my companion told me the other day: "On your mission you will experience more downs than ups. But when you look back you only remember the good parts." That is so true. I have a testimony that this gospel I am teaching is true. This gospel, the doctrine of Jesus Christ, teaches us that we are all sons and daughters of our heavenly father. He loves us and he has prepared this magnificent way for us to receive happiness in this live and to live with our family for all eternity in the life to come. It is sad and hard to be rejected by so many people every day but your keep on going. You keep on going because the joy you feel when you find somebody who is ready to accept Jesus Christ as their savior and redeemer is so much greater than any disappointment and discouragement you experience.
At the moment we have the privilege and responsibility to teach and help 5 people preparing for their baptism. Accepting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in your life is not an easy to do. It is a big change that affects every single aspect of your life. That is something I have never experienced myself and it is very impressive to see how people are willing to change and follow their savior.
Every day I get to witness how our heavenly father supports, protects and guides his children. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He loves us and he will use any opportunity we give him to strengthen, support and bless us. Whatever challenge or difficulty we may face, he knows how to help us and he will help us if we ask and trust him. Most of the time his help will not be offered at the time nor the way we except it but he will help us. Always remember this.
